Pump Type Clarification
Pump is a machine to be used to transfer liquid or pressurizes the liquid. It can transport the mechanical power of prime mover or other external power to the liquid and increase the energy of liquid. The pump is mainly used to pump water, oil, acid and alkali, suspoemulsion or liquid metal. Also it can transport mixture of liquid and oil and liquid including suspended solids.
According to the working principle, it is divided into positive pump, impeller pump and jet pump. According to the position of the pump shaft, it can be divided into vertical pump and horizontal pump. According to the structure, it can be divided into single-stage pump and multi-stages pump; According to the usage, it can be divided into boiler feed water pump and metering pump.
And the impeller pump mainly includes the centrifugal pumps, axial pump, mixed-flow pump etc. Our slurry pumps belong to the centrifugal pumps. It is used to transfer slurry that is a mixture of liquid and particles of solid. And some of them incapable of being dissolved.
There are two kinds of slurries: non-settling and settling. Non-settling slurries are composed by very fine particles of low specific gravity. Settling slurries usually are consisted of high specific gravity particles. Both slurries have different abrasion impact on the elements of the pump according to their hardness or shape.
According to the pumps shaft, we divide the slurry pumps into horizontal slurry pumps and vertical slurry pumps. The horizontal slurry pumps are often installed with dry environment. As the the drive end is installed outside the pump. The vertical slurry pumps are usually semi-submersible one. It can be used to transfer the slurry without shaft seal.
