Froth Pump Selection

There will be froth when pumping slurry especially in flotation process. We need to consider froth factor when we make pump selection.

 

The froth will affect the pump flow, efficiency and will result to cavitation.

 

Generally, we suggest to choose froth pump which is designed for handling slurry with froth. But if we still want to use standard pump for this application, we need to consider the following factors:

1. When calculate the flow need to multiple the froth factor

2. Use open or recessed impeller

3. Operates well to the left of the best efficiency point

4. Oversized to handle large air volume
